Writing Reader Reports
Publishing companies and literary agents often use readers to screen the manuscripts they receive to help them decide if a particular manuscript is worth further consideration.
I’ve written a short, one-lesson self-paced class to show you the ins-and-outs of writing reader reports as a first reader or screener. The class covers:
- The difference between “first reader” and “beta reader”
- The reader role at agencies and publishers
- Differences in reading for agencies, traditional publishers and hybrid publishers
- Finding reader work
- Identifying content concerns
- The basics of what a reader report should include
The class also includes a reader report template and an example of a completed reader report.
Self-paced classes can be taken at any time. More information can be found here.
